Competition begins today at the IBSA Powerlifting World and European Championships 2014, the most prestigious competition worldwide for blind and partially sighted lifters.

Antalya in Turkey is the host city for this year's world championships, where over 70 lifters from three continents will compete.

Among the lifters to watch out for are local boy Serhat Uss, Roman Kurov from Ukraine and Iranian Rohan Ahmadi. In the women's category big things are expected of Olena Mazurova and Hlyna Halinska from Ukraine and Russian lifter Larisa Malyshkina, who are all defending their world titles.

The IBSA Powerlitfing World and European Championships 2014 are hosted by the Turkish Blind Sports Federation (GESFED)
