Sport and friendship at the Showdown Slovak Open 2024

Date: March 4, 2024

Category: Showdown

The second edition of the Showdown Slovak Open was again held in an atmosphere of sport, friendship, passion, dedication, and learning. The tournament took place in Šamorín, not far from Bratislava, from February 14th to 18th, 2024.

There were delegations from 11 European countries. We had the honour of welcoming on an international level a very new team, Team Portugal. The competition itself showed us lots of interesting and hard matches.

There were 27 women and 40 men competing for the podium. But at the end, only three players in each category could stand there and be celebrated for their sports skills, dedication, effort, and best results.

#Accessibility – The women’s podium has, from left to right: (2nd place) Monika Szwalek, from Poland; (1st place) Elvina Vidot, from France; (3rd place) and Tanja Oranic, from Slovenia.

This year, in the ladies category, Elvina Vidot from France took first place after a series of great matches and the final game against Monika Szwalek from Poland. For the bronze medal, Tanja Oranič from Slovenia and Dominika Czuj were playing, and after a result of 3:0, Oranič took 3rd place.

#Accessibility – The men’s podium has, from left to right: (2nd place) Marco Carri, from Italy; (1st place) Adrian Sloninka, from Poland; (3rd place) and Pierre Bertrand, from France. All the players are holding diplomas in their hands.

In the gentlemen category, Adrian Sloninka from Poland won the final match against Marco Carrai from Italy with a final result of 3:2 after quite a spectacular game. Bronze was taken by Pierre Bertrand from France, who defeated Ladislav Brada from Slovakia.

Everyone put their heart into this tournament: organisers, volunteers, referees, players, and their coaches and guides. It would not be possible to organise such an event without all these people, and of course, all the companies or individuals who sponsored this tournament.
