Poland tops medal table at IBSA Tenpin European Championships

Results are in from the IBSA Tenpin Bowling Open European Championships, held from August 3rd to August 10th in Pardubice in the Czech Republic.

Poland came out top of the medal table at the end of the event with a grand total of 13 medals – 5 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze. Hong Kong finished second on 7 medals (4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze), while Japan was third with one gold, 3 silver and six bronze.

The host nation took 1 silver and 2 bronzes as Josef Gruncl (B3) missed two medal by just 6 pins.

Thirty-one bowlers representing seven countries – Czech Republic, Finland, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Poland and Singapore – took part in the championships, the third European open competition and the second time that the Czech Republic had hosted the championships after the previous event five years ago in 2013.

The IBSA Tenpin Bowling Open European Championships were hosted by the Czech Blind Sports Federation (CBSF).

There were competitions in singles (6 games), doubles (6 games),  3-player team event (4 games), and all-events (16 games).

Zdenek Barlok, IBSA Europe and CBSF chairman, was delighted with the championships: "We are happy that the Czech Republic could host such a big event, which is our focus to bring every year an important European or world based event to our beautiful country. We want every country and athlete to enjoy the Czech Republic and feel at home here while fighting for medals."

"The IBSA Tenpin Bowling Euro Open Championships was the first step we started with and we hope we carry on in forthcoming years,“, Barlok added.
