Question: Can you tell us about the new rules for Goalball coming into effect in 2025?

Answer: Starting January 1st, 2025, these rules will come into effect, having been accepted by the IBSA Board. We will monitor them in test mode across all competitions, gathering feedback for further improvement. While no rules are perfect, this process is ongoing, and I encourage the entire goalball community to actively participate. These changes are designed to serve as a foundation for the sport’s growth and improvement. Additionally, the first meeting of the new Goalball Committee will be held on December 28th, where these rules and their implementation will be discussed. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who worked on developing these rules. A special thanks to the president who created this task force, and to all the board members who actively participated, approved them, and are always ready to consider their improvement with us.

Question: What kind of feedback are you hoping to receive from the community during the test phase?

Answer: We’re looking for honest and constructive feedback from players, coaches, and officials. The goal is to make sure the new rules work well in real competition settings and are fair and beneficial for the players. This will help us refine the rules further and ensure they serve the long-term growth of the sport.
