IBSA supercharges marketing efforts for blind sports

Date: June 6, 2024

Category: IBSA news

The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) is super-charging its efforts to attract partners and investment in Para judo, goalball and blind football alongside other sports for people with vision impairments.

Two-time Paralympian Michael Dennis, who represented Germany in goalball at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, has been appointed as IBSA‘s Director of Marketing and Sponsorship.

Dennis is now leading efforts to build a group of experts who will develop concepts for the sports IBSA is the International Federation for, and actively seek partners.

The German has a background in business administration and sport management and helped make goalball a more popular sport his country. He worked with a dedicated team in Berlin to transform the Goalball Nations Cup into a key stop on the Paralympic pathway for men’s and women’s teams.

After retiring from international duty in 2022, Dennis was approached by IBSA President Ilgar Rahimov at the Nations Cup earlier this year and was inspired to take on the Director of Marketing and Sponsorship role.

„I was delighted to be approached by the IBSA President. It was also a great validation of the work I have done so far in national Goalball and around the Goalball Nations Cup. I am looking forward to the new responsibilities. The goal is to establish reliable standards for all IBSA events that both partners and organizers can rely on and support. I appreciate any support in this endeavor.“

Dennis is inviting anyone interested in being more involved in IBSA’s marketing efforts, or who has ideas to share, to contact him at [email protected]
