The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) is proud to announce the introduction of a new nomination system aimed at recognizing outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, and event organizers in the field of blind sports. This new system, which will be developed and implemented with the coordination of the newly formed IBSA Sports Committee Chairmen Advisory Council, marks an important step toward strengthening IBSA’s commitment to celebrating achievements and promoting the growth of sports for the blind and visually impaired.
Unlike many other international sports federations, IBSA has not previously had an official nomination process. With the introduction of this system, categories such as Best Athlete of the Year, Best Event of the Year, Best Coach of the Year, and others will be created to honor those who have made significant contributions to the development of blind sports.
“We believe that this nomination system will not only inspire athletes and organizers to continue excelling but also enhance the visibility of blind sports on the international stage,” said Tinatin Revazashvili, coordinator of the IBSA Sports Committee Chairmen Advisory Council. “By involving key stakeholders such as the Athletes’ Council and IBSA Administration, we aim to ensure that the nomination process is fair, inclusive, and transparent.”
The nomination system will be developed with input from athletes, coaches, and event organizers, with final recommendations to be submitted for approval by the IBSA Executive Board. This initiative is expected to bring greater recognition to those who inspire the world through their perseverance and achievements in blind sports.
