Date: October 13, 2021
Category: Goalball
The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball has announced that the next youth World Championships will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2023.
The upcoming edition of the competition was due to be held in Sao Paulo in March 2022 after being postponed from 2021, but the organisers and IBSA Goalball Committee agreed to return to the original cycle for the youth Worlds.
This means that after missing the 2021 edition, the 2023 IBSA Goalball Youth World Championships will take place from 9-16 July.
The competition is an important proving ground for the next generation of goalball players. Overall the event is expected to attract between 8-10 boys and girls teams from 10 countries as they look to show-off their future talent.
Hosts Brazil will be looking to defend their girls title won in Penrith, Australia, in 2019.
2022 will still be an exciting year in goalball as the road to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games begins in earnest.
The IBSA Goalball World Championships take place in Hangzhou, China, from 6-18 June, offering teams the chance to qualify for the Paralympics.
Ahead of that, Sao Paulo is also set to host the Americas Championships from 15-22 February.
