Goalball: Time to meet the African champions today!
Date: December 14, 2023
Category: Goalball
This Thursday, the African champions will be known in Cairo, where the 2023 IBSA Goalball African Championships are taking place at the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall.
On the last day of the stage group, Egypt managed to defeat for the second time this tournament the eternal African champion Algeria, opening a wider road to having a new champion in continental Goalball history, so it may be confirmed in the final today.
Because of this undefeated status in this competition’s edition, the host national team of Egypt is directly qualified to the final, together with Algeria, in the final match to decide not only the gold medal but also the qualification to Paris 2024.
On the women’s side, Algeria still dominates the scene. In the last match of the stage group, Algeria scored the first goal in the first throw, with eight seconds on the clock, and kept the pressure throughout the rest of the time.
Both finals are set for this Thursday afternoon.
