The first day of the Goalball competition in the Para Pan American Games – Santiago 2023 started with six matches, one of which was a true titan clash regarding the continental title and the only slot available for Paris 2024.

In the women’s tournament, the USA and Canada played both men and women against each other, but it was the women’s match that attracted extra attention. The tight difference in the final result mirrored the balance between the North American teams, both chasing the ticket to the next year’s Paralympic Games. Goal after goal, the score was 3-3 when the USA women’s national team took the lead.

The Brazilian ladies squad, which has the same purpose as their North American opponents, got a more easy way to victory, defeating Argentina by ten goals.

The men’s team from Brazil also made the same difference against Colombia.
