Goalball draw for London 2012 Paralympic Games

The new rules taking effect from January 1st 2010 have greatly influenced the Paralympics competition and its qualification process. Compared to earlier Paralympics we now have three typical categories of competing teams:
– Host country and medalists from previous World Championships
Drawing procedure:
When the drawing is made, each country will also get a playing schedule number, so that the playing schedule for the pool games can be substituted with the appropriate country names, when the drawing procedure is done. Those numbers is just for complete the playing schedule and the given number is not a unique ranking number for the team.
a) From beginning the following is already given for the pools:
– The gold medalist from the previous world championship will get (1) in the playing schedule and the host country will get (2) in the playing schedule. They will play in pool A.
b) the four (4) teams coming in to the competition as regional champions will be drawn from a hat in to the pools as follows:
– The first country to be drawn will get (3) in the playing schedule and will play in pool A.
c) For the women’s competition the two (2) countries coming in to the competition through the Paralympic qualification tournament shall be drawn from a hat in to the pools:
– The first country to be drawn will get (5) in the playing schedule and will play in pool A.
d) For the men’s competition the four (4) countries coming in to the competition through the Paralympic qualification tournament shall be drawn from a hat in to the pools:
– The first country to be drawn will get (5) in the playing schedule and will play in pool A.
