Egypt to take women’s goalball slot at Tokyo 2020

The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball has announced that the Egyptian women’s team will compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games following the withdrawal of Algeria.
Egypt received their slot following its redistribution by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) according to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Qualification Regulations.
The group draw for the Paralympics was due to take place in the Japanese capital on Wednesday (21 April) but was postponed following the receipt of Algeria’s withdrawal on Monday (19 April). The country’s men’s team will still compete.
A new date for the draw will be announced shortly.
Egypt will go into the pot alongside defending champions Turkey, world champions Russia – who will compete as neutrals – hosts Japan, Brazil, the USA, Australia, Canada, China and Israel.
