The Ukrainian partially sighted football national team won this Tuesday’s final of the competition in the 2023 IBSA World Games against England (4-3), in a dramatic last few seconds for the host team in extra time.

The result remained a draw (2-2) until the end of regular time. English jersey number 10 Adam Lione had scored twice and managed to put his team ahead for the first time (3-2) during the first half of extra time. The fully loaded stands of the Walsall Sports Hall of the University of Wolverhampton were not prepared for what was about to come in the second half.

England managed to get one hand in the title, but Robert Tremba levelled the score again in his last touch in the match. Immediately after the successful shot, in the rotation, the Ukrainian number 4 felt in the ground with his hands on his right thigh and had to be taken out of the field of play. Bad luck for the player, but extra motivation for the team. With 22 seconds for the final whistle, Vadim Shvets, elected MVP, scored again for Ukraine and sealed the fate of the match.

In the bronze medal match, there was no history to tell with the victory of Spain against Japan by 9-0.
