Date: March 16, 2018

Category: Goalball

The organisers of the 2018 IBSA Goalball World Championships taking place in Malmo, Sweden, from 3-8 June have launched a call for volunteers.

The competition, which is the biggest and most important on the goalball calendar, is also a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Organisers are searching for enthusiastic volunteers to help in a variety of areas.

These include providing information to spectators, guests and teams, hosting teams, assisting with the running of the competition, media and ticketing.

However the Local Organising Committee want to hear from people with an interest or experience in other sectors. Their goal is to utilise any skills that potential volunteers might have, even if they have no experience at major international competitions.

Those chosen will receive lunch and access to the venue for all games. Volunteers will also be given assistance with finding affordable accommodation.

Anyone who is interested in this great opportunity can complete a short application form at the 2018 IBSA Goalball World Championships website or via email to [email protected].

Volunteers are needed at different points from 28 May until 9 June, when teams depart.

A total of 16 men’s and 12 women’s team will compete in Malmo for world titles.

Brazil and the USA are the defending champions from 2014 in the men’s and women’s respectively.

FIFH Malmo are also searching for volunteers for the Malmo women’s and men’s Intercup taking place from 29 March – 1 April.
