The IBSA Football Committee has announced that Lausanne, Switzerland, will host the 2020 Blind Football Euro Challenge Cup, its biennial development tournament for emerging European nations.

Considered by many to be one of the world’s major sports capitals, the Swiss city by Lake Geneva will host the six-team tournament from Wednesday June 10th to Sunday June 14th.

The tournament is organised as part of the IBSA Blind Football Development Project Europe, delivered thanks to support from UEFA, and aims to enable new blind football countries to gain experience playing in an international environment before moving on to official IBSA tournaments.

The 2020 Euro Challenge Cup is the fourth such tournament and follows on from previous successful editions in the Czech Republic (Prague, 2014), Greece (Thessaloniki, 2016) and Poland (Krakow, 2018). A total of 13 countries have participated in the three cups to date.

In addition to the host country, which made its international debut at the 2018 Blind Football Euro Challenge Cup in Poland, a number of new, emerging countries are expected to enter.
