Serbian Markov wins Sofia Cup Blind Chess tournament

Ziva Markov from Serbia has won the Sofia Cup, an international chess competition for blind and partially sighted players held in the Bulgarian capital last weekend.

Hosted by the Bulgarian Association of the Blind, the 2017 Sofia Cup brought together 46 players from six countries – Bulgaria, Moldova, Serbia, Romania, the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, and Israel.

Markov ran out winner on six points, followed by fellow Serbian Sretko Avram and Bulgarian Rasim Nizam on 5.5 points.
