Santiago 2023: Let the Para Pan American Games begin!
Date: November 18, 2023
The President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric, declared this Friday night, at the Estadio Nacional de Chile in the capital city of Santiago, that the 7th edition of the Para Pan American Games opened in front of a fully loaded venue.
Almost two thousand athletes from 31 countries, for the next ten days, will be playing for the continental tiles, and some of them will get their slot for Paris 2023.
The beautiful opening ceremony took more than two hours, with the traditional delegations’ parade, live music, dance, fireworks, bicycle riders with neon helmets, and one amazing drone show that lit up the sky with the Andes mountain range as a background scenario.
Victor Hugo Silva, captain of the Blind Football national team of Chile, took the oath for the Games in the name of all the athletes.
The three IBSA Paralympic sports, Goalball, Blind Football and Judo will be part of the 17 that will be in competition. The first two will start the action this Saturday, and the two-day Judo tournament begins only on Sunday.
