The IBSA Goalball Committee and the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Organising Committee have published the final match schedule for the games in September.

The Goalball competition, to be held at the Future Arena, kicks off on Thursday 8th September at 9am local time when hosts Brazil take on Sweden in the men's competition. The Brazilian women's team will face the United States at 11am.

Competition in the group stage continues until Tuesday September 13th and the quarter finals begin the following day. Medal matches are on Friday September 16th.

Following the draw on May 4th, the groups for the competition are:
 
Men's pool A: Brazil, Algeria, Canada, Germany and Sweden

Men's pool B: Finland, USA, Turkey, China and Lithuania

Women's pool C: USA, Japan, Algeria, Brazil and Israel

Women's pool D: Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Canada and China
