The first European Para Championship has started. The hosts of the championship, the Netherlands, did a great preparatory work. I met with the founder of these games, Eric Kersten. We talked about the level of competition and discussed the participation of IBSA and IBSA sports in the next games. We need to properly plan our joint activities so as not to run into scheduling problems between our competitions.
I also had a fruitful meeting with the head of Gehandicaptensport Nederland, Mr. Dos Engelaar. I was interested in his opinion about the future of IBSA, what he thinks about the problems and reforms in IBSA. I think that at every opportunity we need to meet more members of the IBSA and make it a rule for me and for other members of the board when visiting countries.
As always, there was a warm meeting with my friend, IPC President, Mr. Andrew Parsons. There is a very strong mutual understanding between our organizations and this is very effective for our future cooperation.
I enjoyed attending parajudo competitions. Of course, the number of participants in some categories was small. But this did not affect the spirit of the competition and the quality of the fight. I am pleased with the increased skill of our athletes. I am proud of them, their dedication and the strength of their spirit.
