Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco and Mali advance to IBSA Blind Football African semi-finals

The teams will meet on Saturday in the semi-finals of the IBSA Blind Football African Championships in Enugu, Nigeria.

The curtain has closed on the group stage at the 2019 IBSA Blind Football African Championships in Enugu, Nigeria. After contested battles throughout the past four days, the top two teams in each group have qualified for the semi-finals and are one step closer to the anticipated final.

Nigeria qualified for the semi-final by topping Group A with seven points after a 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast drew first blood nine minutes into the game, but the hosts scored an equalizer eleven minutes before full-time to secure an important point. Ivory Coast finished second with five points to also qualify for the semi-final.

In Group B, Morocco finished first on maximum nine points by winning their last game against Egypt 3-0, taking their unbeaten streak to thirteen games. 2017 runners-up Mali fired nine past newcomers Niger to attain their second win of the competition and finish second on six points.

Today is a rest day in Nigeria and the teams will recharge their batteries for the resumption of play tomorrow Saturday.

Egypt and Cameroon will play for 5th place at 11:00 local time, Nigeria will face Mali in the first semi-final at 13:00 and reigning champions Morocco will defend their title against Ivory Coast in the second semi-final at 15.00. All times are Nigerian local time.
