New Appointment to the IBSA Executive Board

I am pleased to announce that Robert Fenton has been appointed to the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Executive Board as an Advisor to the President and a Member at Large without voting rights. This appointment is made under section 6.8 of the IBSA Constitution. His primary duties will be to assist with the writing of IBSA’s bylaws, drafting policies and acting as chair of the soon to be established Legal and Ethics Committee.
 
Robert has practised law for the past 21 years in both the private and public sectors. For the past 14 years, he has been Legal Counsel to the Chief of Police of the Calgary Police Service.
 
After competing in swimming for Canada in the 1984 Paralympic Games, Robert also competed internationally in track and field and nationally in Goalball. Over the past fifteen years, he has sat on several boards of directors of organizations who serve the blind and partially sighted. For the past three years, he has been the President of the Canadian Blind Sports Association.
