March 2018 IBSA Goalball world rankings released

IBSA Goalball have released an updated world rankings lists following tournaments featuring teams from around the world in March.
With just two months to go until the 2018 World Championships in Malmo, Sweden, the Sporting Pro Tour Goalball tournament in Lisbon, Portugal, saw five men's team compete. On the women's side the same number of teams made the journey to Trakai, Lithuania, for an international tournament.
Japan moved up one place in the women’s rankings, overtaking Rio 2016 bronze medallists the USA who now sit fifth. Canada also moved up a spot to sixth.
The Japanese men also advanced by a single place to 13th.
The top teams remain unchanged in both lists. Paralympic champions Lithuania lead the men's ahead of Brazil and China. In the women's China, Brazil and Turkey, also Paralympic title holders, are the top three.
April will be a massive month for tournaments with Lithuania, Slovenia, Jordan, China and Germany playing host.
Teams are building towards the Worlds which begin on 3 June. They will be the first major stop on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
