Judo’s European capital is Cagliari

The 2002 IBSA Judo European Championships will start tomorrow, hosted by the city of Cagliari (Italy). Athletes from 20 countries will fight for the continental titles at PalaPirastu, Cagliari’s Sport Palace in Sardinia’s island.
The competitions will be conducted in accordance with the latest IBSA, IJR, and IJF. The competition is played in a double repechage/robin round system.
The delegations have been arriving in the last two days and have proceeded through the usual classifications and weigh-in. The draw will be held today in Hotel Regina Margherita at 7pm (CEST) and will be live streamed on the IBSA YouTube channel.
The countries participating are: Azerbaijan, Croatia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Ukraine, Georgia, Switzerland, and Turkey.
