Judo: Norberto Bíró leads ISF Technical Commission
Date: October 10, 2022
Category: Judo
The former IBSA Judo committee chairperson, Mr. Norbert Bíró, was chosen by the International School Sport Federation (ISF) to be the first president of the newly created Para Judo Technical Commission.
The ISF has been organizing Gymnasiade for the U18 and U15 age categories, and the last edition was held in Deauville, Normandy (France). It was the very first time blind young judokas could show their skills as part of the official programme of the multi-sport event.
The executive board of ISF has evaluated as successful the debut of blind athletes and that was the main reason why it created the technical commission of para judo. The ISF Technical Sport Commissions are entities set up by the Executive Committee to assist and develop the rules, formats, and preparations of each sport in the ISF sport programme. This ranges from providing technical expertise related to their sport to the running of ISF competitions.
Mr. Bíró has been working hard to establish strong cooperation with the International Judo Federation (IJF) and IBSA Judo for the further development of judo for the blind and visually impaired people.
