The newly elected IBSA Athletes’ Council has elected Iida Kauppila, from Finland, as the first chairperson in the council’s history. The Athletes’ Council constituted itself, as per the bylaws, at a meeting on Tuesday the 10^th of October. The chairperson will represent the council at future IBSA Executive Board meetings.

The result of the constitution was unanimously approved and acknowledged by all elected members of the Athletes’ Council.

Iida Kauppila, from Finland, participated in the IBSA World Games in Birmingham in August, representing the Finnish goalball team as captain. She has many years’ experience from both international tournaments and as a paralympian, as well as working with blind sports at a local level.
