Date: May 19, 2015

Category: Athletics

The fifth edition of the IBSA World Games came to a close on Sunday evening with a spectacular closing ceremony in the SK Handball Gymnasium in the Korean capital which was attended by many athletes, team officials, IBSA officials, organising committee staff and dignitaries.

Closing the games officially on behalf of IBSA, Sally Wood-Lamont thanked and praised the organising committee staff and volunteers for their fantastic work during the eight days of competition. Thanks to their efforts IBSA and the organisers had provided a worthy stage for blind and partially sighted athletes from all around the world to showcase their skills in ten competitions.

The Seoul 2015 IBSA World Games followed on from previous events in Spain (Madrid, 1998), Canada (Quebec, 2003), Brazil (Sao Paulo, 2007) and Turkey (Antalya,2011). Seoul 2015 featured more sports than ever before.

In the coming months IBSA will launch the process to seek a host for the 6th IBSA World Games, inviting all IBSA member countries to submit bids to organise the event.
