The last day of the Judo competition in the European Para Championships at Rotterdam Ahoy was a day dedicated to the teams’ tournament, and the men’s IBSA Team was the winner!
In the women’s competition, Ukraine defended very well its world title won in Baku last year and defeated Turkiye.
The men’s IBSA Team was composed of Alex Bologa (ROU), Daniel Knegt (NED), Daniel Vargoszcy (ROU), and Oscar Widegren (SWE).
“I really enjoyed competing together today. We really worked and prepared together. Normally, you don’t look each other in the eye. Well, we can’t see each other anyway (laughs), but now we do everything together. The team spirit and feeling are really there, it’s nice to feel that. After yesterday, I doubted whether I would participate (in the team final) or not. But this morning I thought: well, it’s a chance to compete and show myself again. So that’s what I did. The competition went well for me. I felt free in my head, and that really helped during the competition. I felt like I had it all under control. I really competed tactically. It’s nice to be able to show that I can do it and that I can win matches”, said the Dutch Daniel Knegt.
IBSA Team is a usual procedure in IBSA judo competitions worldwide to give the opportunity to all judokas to participate in the teams’ tournament whenever the countries don’t have enough athletes to create their own squad.
