IBSA Judo update on sight classification

Date: March 6, 2017

Category: Judo

Sight classification

Only athletes who have undergone a valid eye classification, carried out by IBSA and under IBSA Judo rules, and have an eligible sight class, may enter any high level IBSA Judo event.

IBSA-sanctioned events are the IBSA World Games, Judo World Championships and Continental Championships. Sight classification will be arranged at all sanctioned events.

The IBSA Judo World Cups (held jointly with IJF events) do not necessarily have sight classification. Athletes wishing to enter these competitions must have a valid international sight classification. This will be checked prior to competition.

The Judo classification master list is available here: http://www.ibsasport.org/sports/judo/general-documents/

Sight classification will take place at the following events:

2017

Asian (and Oceanian) Senior Championships – 22nd May, Tashkent (UZB)
European Senior Championships – 13th August, Birmingham (GBR),
Pan-American Senior Championships – August-September Sao-Paolo (BRA).

2018

Senior World Championships – Autumn

World Cups (no sight classification, only verification of sight class):

2017

IBSA Judo World Cup (joint event with IJF) 9th October – Tashkent (UZB)

Proposal for 2018

Three World Cups (joint events with IJF) are planned in different continents, starting in spring.

You can check the detailed program on the IBSA Judo competition calendar: http://www.ibsasport.org/sports/judo/calendar/
