IBSA Judo seeks bids for 2018 world championships

The IBSA Judo Committee has begin the process of selecting a host city for its world championships next year.

The committee has released a briefing document outlining the process and IBSA member countries are invited to submit their bid to host the event by Wednesday November 1st.

The 2018 IBSA Judo World Championships will be the first event in the qualification process for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. 

Following submission of the bid, the applicant country will be sent a series of detailed questions regarding its plans for the event. The best bid will be selected and the final decision will be approved by IBSA.

For your information:
 

  • The IBSA Judo World Championships should be held at the end of September 2017 or latest the beginning of October.
  • The qualification process for the next Paralympic Games in Tokyo starts in 2018 with the world championships.
  • The first version of the Qualification Guide for PG in judo will be published by the IPC around February 2018.

The 2018 edition of the world championships will follow on from previous worlds in Colorado Springs (USA, September 2014), Antalya (Turkey, March 2010), and Brommat (France, June 2006).
