IBSA heads to Athens for IPC GA

The International Blind Sports Federation will be well represented at the International Paralympic Committee conference and general assembly, which take place over the coming days in Athens, Greece. Around 450 people from over 150 IPC member countries are expected to attend the gathering.

Proceedings kick off tomorrow Friday November 22nd with a one-day conference and continue on Saturday and Sunday with the general assembly, the highest decision-making body in the Paralympic movement.

Elections to the IPC Governing Board will take place on Sunday, with the posts of president and vice-president, as well as 10 members-at-large, up for election. Mr Michael Barredo, former IBSA President, is standing as a candidate for member-at-large.

IBSA, a founding member of the IPC, will be well represented at the meetings. President Janie Hammershoi, Vice-president Joe Walsh, Sports Director Torsten Karlsson, Secretary General Henk van Aller, Goalball Committee Chair Kari Marklund and Executive Director Neil O’Donovan are all set to attend.
