After 20 years as head coach of the the USA Women's Goalball Team–one of the winningest teams in goalball–Ken Armbruster will retire effective 15 October 2016.

"I depart from coaching with both a heavy heart and a sense of accomplishment," Armbruster stated in departing remarks.  "The friendships I gained in IBSA with fellow coaches, players and officials are some of the most cherished of my life."

Armbruster, who has accumulated more wins than any coach in United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) history, ends with an international record that includes 284 victories and 4 Paralympic medals, including a Gold medal at the 2008 Paralympic Games.  As a club coach, Armbruter's national coaching record includes 472 victories, 10 national and 31 regional championships.  Among his numerous accolades, Coach Armbruster was named the United States Olympic Committee's 2008 Paralympic Coach of the Year.

"No coach is successful without great players and I have coached many great players over the years," remarked Armbruster.  Among those players was his daughter Jen who was a member of every national and international team he coached. 

Coach Armbruster retires with a reputation for excellence that leaves an indelible mark in the goalball history books.  IBSA Goalball applauds coach Armbruster on his retirement and wishes him well in his future endeavors!
