IBSA Goalball African Championships about to begin
Date: November 30, 2013
Category: Goalball
The final IBSA Goalball regional championship for 2013 is about to commence and this time it is Africa’s moment to be in the spotlight.
Seven men’s teams are about to come together in Nairobi, Kenya, for the 2013 IBSA Goalball African Championships to try and qualify for the 2014 IBSA Goalball World championships and to try and be crowned the African Champion.
Algeria is the strong favourites for this title. The current Paralympic and World Championship quarter finalists are seasoned campaigners and know what to do when it comes to the big tournaments.
Even though Algeria is the favourite, the top two nations are instant qualifiers for the World Championships and therefore there is still a lot to play for. The remaining six nations of Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya Rwanda and Ghana will all be looking for a top two finish and perhaps to even upset the favourites.
Monday 2nd December is the begin date of this tournament and it will all finish on the 7th December.
For those in or around Nairobi who are wishing to attend, the tournament is taking place at the Moi International Sports Centre.
For those who are unable to attend, daily review articles should be posted each day on this website so please come back regularly to stay up to date with what is happening in Nairobi.
Good luck to all participating athletes and officials and we look forward to a week of African goalball.
