IBSA Blind Football announces European Division 2 and qualifying tournament

The IBSA Football Committee has confirmed the dates and venue for the 2019 IBSA Blind Football European Championships Division 2.

The championships will take place in Bucharest, Romania, from March 24th to 31st, at the Romanian Football Federation's national training centre close to the capital.

The tournament is open to any national blind football team from Europe which has not already qualified for the IBSA Blind Football European Championships 2019 in Rome, Italy, in September. The top two teams from Bucharest will qualify for Rome.

The schedule for the championships is:

Arrival date – Sunday 24th March
Sight classification – Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th March
Competition dates –  Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th March
Departure date – Sunday 31st March

The venue is a purpose-built blind football pitch at the RFF's main training base for all national teams. It was opened in August 2018 by FRR President Răzvan Burleanu.

Entry fees for the competition are 75 Euros per person per day in double or triple rooms, and 90 Euros per person per day in a single room. Athletes will also pay the IBSA capitation fee of 25 Euros.

The entry fee includes the participation fee, transport to hotel from the airport, bus or railway station, and accommodation including all meals (full board).

All players for classification MUST arrive by 24th March 2019 to be ready for classification. Please read the information in the link below and prepare your team for classification according to the rules. Players must be familiar with the rules and procedures of IBSA medical classification:

IBSA Classification Rules

A fully-filled Medical Diagnostics Form, dated and signed by a certified ophthalmologist, must be uploaded in ISAS 6 weeks before the first classification day of the event, i.e. by 20th February 2019. Only the current MDF (available here) is accepted.

All players participating in the 2019 IBSA Blind Football European Championships Division 2
must be registered in the ISAS database and have a current ISAS Active Sport License for
2019 and IBSA Athlete ID Card. For more information please contact [email protected].

In 2018 IBSA initiated online registration through the database for all athletes participating in
IBSA-sanctioned competitions, including this one. This means that you will be able to register your players directly for this competition on the ISAS database:
