Guatemala City once again played host to a blind football tournament as part of the nationwide sports championships organised by the National Association of the Blind.

The venue for the tournament, from August 10th to 12th, was the rehab centre of the Guatemalan Committee for the Blind and Deaf (Comité Pro-Ciegos y Sordos de Guatemala), a purpose-built blind football ground which also hosted the 2017 IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships, and for the very first time a partially sighted football tournament was also on the programme.

In the blind football tournament the participating teams were El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, local team Los Tiburones (The Sharks), the National Association of the Blind and the National Blind Association for Culture and Sport.

In the partially sighted (B2/B3) competition three teams entered: El Salvador, Guatemala A and Guatemala B.

The Sharks took gold in the blind football category, with Nicaragua finishing second, El Salvador in third place and Honduras in fourth spot. All matches were officiated by official IBSA blind football referees.
