Hosts Guatemala and Costa Rica today confirmed their place in Saturday’s final of the IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships in Ciudad de Guatemala.
It was a busy day at the office for Guatemala, who faced two games in the space of six hours, but they were up to the task and defeated Nicaragua 2-0 in the opening match and El Salvador 1-0 in today’s final fixture.
Zapeta and López were on the mark to overcome Nicaragua, and López scored the winner against El Salvador to secure a slot in the final.
In today’s other match, Costa Rica were too strong for Honduras and won 5-0 thanks to goals from Contreras (3) and Chávez (2).

Daniel Contreras (Costa Rica) moves to the top of the goal-scorers table on seven, ahead of Fredy Oliva (Honduras) on five.
For what may be the first time in the history of blind football, a woman referee led the team of officials in an international IBSA match. Hilary Ramírez from Costa Rica was number one referee in the game between Guatemala and El Salvador.
