Goalball technical visit to Paris 2024

The IBSA Goalball Sport Committee Chairperson, Mrs. Aurora Zanolin, and the Goalball Sport’s Director, Alexey Baryaev, took part in the meeting with the Paris 2024 LOC (Local Organising Committee) team to discuss the preparation’s process for the Paralympic Goalball tournament.
During the two-day meeting, there were site visits to the Paralympic village and the competition venue to fix and discuss the most important points. In Paris 2024, it will be the first time that training courts will be situated inside the Paralympic village, using cinema studios.
It will provide the best level of acoustics, which is very important for the Goalball athletes. Also, it gives the possibility to train inside the village without using any extra transportation.
On the second day, there were meetings with different departments of Paris 2024, such as transportation, the look of the games, venue management, team liaison, and many other important topics. The meeting with the Sport Director of Paris 2024, Mrs. Aurélie Merle, helped to overview all the details of the preparation and plan future steps. .
Now, the whole process is well under the control of Paris 2024 Goalball’s management team, and it gives hope that future games will create new high-level standards for the Goalball tournaments.
The LOC team is formed by Aurélie Merle, Executive Director Sports, Joanna Sutherland, Senior Sport Cluster Manager, Holly Abraham, Sport Manager, Marylène Turp, Senior Technical Operations Manager, Mathilde Benchetrit, Sport Services Coordinator, Johann Le Minez, Sport Equipment Coordinator, and Christina Fritz, Deputy Manager.
