The standings in the four groups of the 2022 IBSA Goalball World Championships are taking shape. With two rounds played so far, some favourites are taking the lead and others continue to surprise.

In the women’s competition, Turkey, Canada, Denmark (group A), Israel, Japan, and Australia (group B) are still invincible, while on the men’s side, Turkey, Brazil (group C), Iran, China, and the USA (group D) also remain unbeaten.

Iran’s men’s national team leads in goals scored (25), with the United States close behind (24), both in the same group (D). As a result, the USA-China match on Day 4 is a must-see! One of them will be defeated for the first time… or a draw.

The European champion and vice-champion, Ukraine and Lithuania, respectively, already played with China, which means they are ready to climb some steps and avoid the not so good news coming from group C.

The victim of the Turkish typhoon was the host country, Portugal, which gave some headaches during the first half but didn’t get to hold the good signs it gave in the first half. Germany faced the favourite national team in the first round and lost. Now they’re trying to get their rightful place back, and Canada was the first to step out of the way.

In the women’s competition, Brazil continues to be an absolute surprise in group B. After the loss in the first match against Great Britain, today was the day for the United States to take the three points from the Samba girls. The time is running out, and the road to Paris 2024 is getting too thin for them. They must defeat one of the current top two teams, Israel or Japan, as well as all of their other opponents. On this Day 4, Brazil will face Japan.
