Date: November 6, 2019

Category: Football

Costa Rica shot to the top of the table on match day 1 at the IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships in Guatemala City. The reigning regional champions had a surprisingly easy victory over the hosts in the opening match of the tournament.

Starting positively, Costa Rica took an early 3-0 lead before Guatemala found their feet and settled down in front of their home support. However, Costa Rica proved to be too strong and ran out 10-0 winners. Flores and Contreras scored four each and Felipe Ulate scored the other two goals.

In yesterday’s second game, Nicaragua took the lead in the first half through Pablo Robles and looked to have the three points in the bag. However, El Salvador had other ideas and equalised at the end of the match thanks to a strike by Javier Meza.
