Costa Rica books spot in Central American Blind Football Championships

Reigning Central American champions Costa Rica secured a slot in the final of the IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships yesterday thanks to a 5-0 victory over El Salvador.

Four goals by Ángel Flores and a single strike from Contreras ensured Costa Rica will be in the final, to be played next Saturday at 14:00 local time. They sit top of the group on maximum six points after match day 2 yesterday.

In the other group match, hosts Guatemala revived their chances after a disappointing first match by defeating Nicaragua 1-0. It was a close-fought match until Jorge Rodas put the home team ahead in the 14th minute of the second half. Guatemala moves into second place in the group on three points, while Nicaragua who sits in third place ahead of El Salvador, both on one point.

There is everything to play for on match day three today as Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador can all qualify to face Costa Rica in the final.
