China took gold to retain its title at the 2019 IBSA Blind Football Asian Championships yesterday, defeating Iran 1-0 in a tight final in Pattaya, Thailand.
A 16th-minute goal from a corner was enough for the defending champions to take the trophy from the Paralympic silver medallists. Iran fought hard to secure an equaliser, but the Chinese defence held out.
In the match for the bronze medals, Japan got the better of the hosts to win 2-1.
In yesterday's morning match, newcomers India surprised Malaysia to find the back of the net twice in the second half and clinch fifth place.
