Brazil ahead after day two at Blind Football American Championships

Reigning champion Brazil is the only team on maximum points following day two at the IBSA Blind Football American Championships in Santiago de Chile.

In yesterday's opening game, hosts Chile bagged its first points in the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Peru. Victor Silva scored all three goals for the Chileans,

Colombia and Argentina played out a close-fought game but neither team was able to secure victory. The spoils were shared as the final score was 1-1, Jhon González striking for Colombia and Nicolas Veliz for Argentina.

In the third and final game Brazil secured top spot in the group after two games with a 2-0 win over Mexico. Raimundo Mendez and Ceverino Silva were the scorers.

Argentina and Colombia are tied for second spot on four point, with the Argentineans ahead on goal difference (+3 to +1). Chils is sitting in fourth place on three points, while Mexico and Peru have yet to win their first points.

Three teams will qualify from Chile 2017 to take part in the IBSA Blind Football World Championships in Madrid, Spain, in June 2018. As reigning world champions (Tokyo 2014), Brazil has qualified automatically for Madrid 2018.

IBSA's local partners in hosting the event are the Chilean Sports Federation for the Visually Impaired and the Paralympic Committee of Chile.
