Date: September 17, 2018

Category: Football

The IBSA Football Committee and the Japan Blind Football Association have confirmed the dates and venue for the second edition of the tournament.

The IBSA Blind Football WGP 2019 will be held at the Shinagawa-ku Tenno park in Tokyo from March 19th to 24th 2019.

In addition to the host team, it will feature seven of the world’s leading blind football nations from the top 20 in the IBSA Blind Football World Ranking table, and follows on from the highly-successful first World Grand Prix in March this year.

More information on the participating teams will be released in December.

Argentina will be looking to retain the title it won in March, defeating England on penalties in the final to lift the trophy.

IBSA and the Japan Blind Football Association have reached an agreement to host the World Grand Prix until at least 2020. The tournament will serve as preparation for the world’s top teams in the run-up to the 2020 Paralympic Games in the Japanese capital, and as a springboard to promote blind football within Japan, in Asia and to the rest of the world.

Also on the programme for the same dates is an international development tournament featuring Japan B and some of the most exciting up-and-coming blind football nations. More details will be made available soon.
