Blind football European Championships match schedule announced

The IBSA Football Committee and the local organising committee of the IBSA Blind Football European Championships Berlin 2017 have released the fixture list for the group stage of the event.

The championships will take place from Friday August 18th until Saturday August 26th at the Lilli-Henoch-Sportplatz, near to Potsdamer Platz in the centre of the city.

The opening match will feature hosts Germany in action in a group A match against Italy at 19:30 on Friday 18th. Germany is currently ranked 12th in the world while Italy are joint 21st.

Group A action continues the following day at 13:30, when England, who came fourth at the last Europeans in Hereford in 2015, take on debutants Romania, currently ranked 34th.

Later in the day group B kicks off when Spain, third-placed at the 2015 EC, will face newcomers Georgia (ranked 25th). The action for the day closes with the reigning European champions, Turkey, making their competition debut at 19:30 against Belgium, ranked 28th and eighth in 2015.

Group stage matches continue until Wednesday 23rd. The semi-finals will be held on Thursday 24th in the afternoon/evening, placement matches for 9th-10th, 7th-8th and 5th-6th place will take place on Friday 25th, and the medal matches will be on Saturday 26th in the afternoon/evening.
