Blind football coaching manual now on-line

Date: January 29, 2020

Category: Football

The IBSA Football Committee has published a coaching manual aimed at new trainers, physical education teachers and others interested in coaching blind football.

The new manual targets beginners and sets out the basic principles involved in coaching players who are blind or partially sighted skills in B1 football. The IBSA Blind Football Coaching Manual: a guide for beginners is authored by two experienced international trainers with support from a team of coaches.

Ulrich Pfisterer, chair of the IBSA Football Committee, welcomed the new publication:

“IBSA Football has run many development clinics in many counties for many years, and there was always a demand for a coaching manual.

We are now happy to release the very first blind football coaching manual. This will help new coaches and teachers all over the world to methodically introduce blind football in their country. Five-a-side Football, the only disability football code in the Paralympics, is developing rapidly, particularly in Africa and Asia.

My thanks go to the IBSA coaching team, which was mindful to stay with the teaching of the basics of the game, keeping it simple with many pictures. There will be a follow up for advanced blind football coaches, level 2, at some point in the future.

It was a pleasure to contribute to this blind football coaching manual.”

The manual is available in low resolution PDF format here or on the link above, while high resolution PDF and Word versions of the publication are available on request.

The manual is published as part of the IBSA Blind Football Development Project Europe, funded by UEFA.
