Blind Football Central American Championships Guatemala 2017 – match day 4 report

With Costa Rica and Guatemala already qualified for the final, today saw the final group-stage matches at the IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships in Guatemala.
In today’s opening match, Honduras sealed its place in tomorrow’s 3rd-4th place play-off with a 3-0 victory over Nicaragua. Castillo (2 goals) and Oliva were on the mark for Honduras.
In the second and final match of the day, Costa Rica defeated El Salvador 6-0 to finish the group stage on ten points and in first place on goal difference from Guatemala. Goals from Elate (2) and Chávez (4) secured the top spot for the Costa Ricans.

Honduras and El Salvador will open play tomorrow in the match for third and fourth place (10:30 local time), and the final will begin at 14:00.

Esteban Chávez (Costa Rica) is the tournament’s top goal-scorer on 9 after his four goals today, ahead of his teammate Daniel Contreras on 7. Honduran Fredy Oliva is third on 6 goals.
The IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships Guatemala 2017, hosted by the Guatemalan Committee for the Blind and Deaf, are the first ever official championships in the region. The winning team will qualify for the IBSA Blind Football World Championships in Madrid, Spain, in June next year.
