Blind Football: Bids opened for the first edition of the Intercontinental Cup

Date: November 9, 2022

Category: Football

The Intercontinental Cup is designed to give teams who do not qualify for the World Championships via regional Championships another opportunity to compete on the international stage.

The first edition is planned for 2023, and the committee is inviting bids to host.

The 2023 IBSA Blind Football Intercontinental Cup will feature 10 teams, including the host and nine other countries that compete at regional championships set to take place in 2022 but do not secure a Worlds spot.

The IBSA Football Committee invites IBSA member organisations in good standing to submit a full application by clicking here to download and complete the application form.

“Intercontinental Cup is a newly ranked event that gives a chance for national teams to improve and be competent enough to qualify for the next World Championship cycle”, expressed Elias Mastoras, IBSA Football Chairperson.

The IBSA Football Committee recommends holding this event between September 15 and December 20, 2023.

Expressions of interest and full bids should be addressed to IBSA Football Committee Chairperson Elias Mastoras ([email protected]) and to [email protected] by email before December 10, 2022.

The 2023 edition of this championship will award official points for the IBSA Football Ranking.
