Berlin to host 2017 IBSA Blind Football European Championships

IBSA has confirmed that Berlin will play host to the 2017 IBSA Blind Football European Championships for totally blind players.

Hosted by the German Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities and the Berlin Disability Sports Association, the championships will be held from August 17th to 27th 2017.

The championships will take place in Lilli-Henoch-Sportplatz, which is to be upgraded to a purpose-built blind football arena for the event. Lilli-Henoch-Sportplatz is located right in the
heart of Berlin, next to Potsdamer Platz and Leipziger Platz.

Ten teams will take part in the competition and the qualification criteria will be published by the IBSA Football Committee following discussion. 

The championships will mark the 10th anniversary of the German Blind Football League – Blindenfussball Bundesliga.
