Spain wins IBSA Blind Football European Championships Rome 2019

Glory and gold for Spain in Italy today as they defeated France in the final to win the 12th IBSA Blind Football European Championships.
Spain ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Jossef El Haddaoui (7th minute of the first half) and Adolfo Acosta (19th minute of the second half) and an own goal in the 5th minute of the second half by Sauffisseau. Niang scored for France at the end of the first half.

It was Spain's eighth European title following wins in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2013.
In the 3rd-4th place play-off England defeated Turkey 1-0 in a penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw after 40 minutes. Dan English scored the winning penalty.

The 2019 IBSA Blind Football European Championships were hosted by FISPIC, the Italian Paralympic Federation for the Visually Impaired.
Spain and France have joined hosts Japan, Brazil and Argentina in qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
