Brazil announce team for IBSA Judo World Cup

Brazil have revealed the six Judoka that will represent their country at the IBSA j=Judo World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, from 18-27 April.
The team includes four Rio 2016 Paralympic Games medallists and two promising new faces. Seventeen-year-old Rebeca Silva and Thiego Silva, 19, will be joined by more established names such as Antonio Tenorio, Wilians Araujo, Alana Maldonado and Lucia Araújo.
Tenorio claimed silver in Rio in the men’s -100kg. Araujo also reached the same spot on the podium in the women’s -57kg.
All six Judoka competed at the recent International Infraero competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 17 March. They were part of an incredible performance by the hosts, securing 11 golds.
They then joined Judoka from Argentina, USA, France, Great Britain and Puerto Rico at the Paralympic Training Centre in Sao Paulo to put the finishing touches to their preparations for Antalya.
Brazil head to Turkey with the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and 2018 IBSA Judo World Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, firmly in mind. The Grand Prix will provide points towards the world rankings.

The 2018 IBSA Judo World Championships will take place between 16-18 November. As one of the most important competitions on the road to Tokyo 2020, the world’s best Judoka are expected to compete.
