India holds successful regional blind football tournament

The second edition of the North-East Blind Football Tournament, featuring eight teams and seventy-five players, took place at the Montfort Centre of Education in Tura, Meghalaya, from January 27th to 30th.

Organised by the Indian Blind Football Federation and the Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged, the championships brought together teams from all over North-East India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya and invited teams from Kolkata, Delhi and the IBFF academy in Kochi.

The tournament was won by the North-East Showers Blind Football Club, who defeated the Delhi Daredevils 1-0 in the final following a pulsating draw. Dominic was on hand to find the back of the net with the winning penalty.

For the first time ever in India, women officials took part in the tournament, officiating a number of games.
