The judo competition at the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon, South Korea, has now come to a close following an outstanding performance from blind and partially sighted judokas from Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan led the medal table at the end of the competition with a total of ten medals, including an incredible 7 gold medals, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. They topped the table ahead of China on 7 medals (5 golds), Mongolia and hosts South Korea, who both took one gold medal.
The results show tremendous development in judo for the visually impaired in Uzbekistan, which has come from joint 7th place at the 2010 Asian Para Games in China to top the table and rule the roost in Asia, taking over top spot from China.
Iran, Japan, Thailand, India and Kazakhstan also feature in the table.
In the men’s team competition Iran came out on top ahead of South Korea, while Mongolia took bronze. In the women’s team event it was Mongolia who proved the strongest team, beating Thailand, who took silver, and India with the bronze medals.
